Garage/Shop ImageHave you ever considered building a detached garage/shop on your property? The added storage and work-space can be a very desirable and useful improvement to your home, and can also add significant value to your property. But where does one start? There are many factors to consider when planning a project such as this. What size structure do you need? Where will it go? How much will it cost? What will the local building department require of me? And this list goes on and on.

Cal Pro Contacting can take all the worry and uncertainty out of planning and building your new grage/shop. Our in-house designers and CAD specialists can design just about anything that you can dream up! The following is an outline of what you can expect during the shop building process.

 

Step 1:
Contact us either by phone or by filing out the above contact form and we will call you immediately to schedule a free consultation and meeting at your property. At this meeting we will walk your property with you to determine the best desired size and location for your new shop structure. We will also discuss other issues such as access and driveways, property setbacks, desired utilities , and any other pertinent information.

Step 2:
Once we have verified that your shop can be built within county/city requirements, we will arrange to meet with you a second time. In this meeting, we will discuss the finer details of your project. This will include desired building materials, type of garage doors, plumbing and electrical needs, etc... Once we have the complete details of your project we will take that information and present you with a free bid for your complete project.

Step 3:
Once you are satisfied with our bid and are ready to move forward, we will begin the process of creating the site and building plans, and submitting them with the permit application. As permit fees can vary significantly from area to area, these fees are not included in our contract price and must be paid directly by the homeowner. If water or electrical service is going to be run to the new structure an application will be made to the appropriate service provider for new service.

Step 4:
Once the permits have been approved we can begin construction immediately. Our standard shop plan takes between 2-3 weeks to construct - depending on factors such as site conditions, and truss production availability. After completion of construction, we will meet with you one last time to walk through the project and verify that you are completely satisfied with your new investment.
